Support Staff Radiation Safety Training
Support Staff Radiation Safety training is a basic overview of radiation use on the campus and instruction on how to work safely in locations where radioactive materials, radiation producing machines, lasers, and other non-ionizing radiation sources are present. Support Staff Radiation Safety training is a one hour course and is offered once a month (see training schedule below). This class is given on a first come, first serve basis. You DO NOT need to contact Radiation Safety to reserve a space in this class. Any questions regarding Support Staff Radiation Safety training can be directed to Jason Smith by e-mail at tguncle@berkeley.edu or by calling him at 643-8529.
Who should attend Support Staff Radiation Safety training? UC Berkeley Support Staff Radiation Safety training is for employees whose work may take them into areas of the campus where radioactive materials, radiation producing machines, lasers, and other non-ionizing radiation sources may be present, but personnel whose work requires that they be on an RUA should take RAM User Training. This would include (but is not limited to): PPCS employees such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters and UC Police, Campus Custodial Staff, OLAC Workers, etc. Personnel whose work requires that they be on an RUA or LUR should contact the Office of Radiation Safety about other training.
