What is BALSO?

Bay Area Laser Safety Officers is an organization designed to promote networking of individuals involved in laser safety. Most members are from the Bay Area, but we invite participation by all interested parties.

BALSO Meetings

BALSO members meet every 60 to 90 days at a mutually convenient place in the Bay Area. A typical meeting consists of:

  • Presentation on a laser topic
  • Open forum for member's questions
  • News Briefs
  • Upcoming Conferences & Courses
  • Laser Safety Standards updates
  • BALSO also welcomes questions pertaining to laser safety and laser safety policies. Such questions will be discussed at BALSO meetings and a summary of the discussion will be included in the highlights for that meeting. Please submit questions to:

    Eddie Ciprazo (racerx@uclink4.berkeley.edu)

    Dewey Sprague (sprague6@llnl.gov)

    Ken Barat (barat1@llnl.gov)

The BALSO membership would like to thank the University of California, Berkeley - Office of Radiation Safety for their technical and financial support in sponsoring this web site.
